I'm curious about others' viewpoints in the area of what dieters say to their easily and naturally slim counterparts...
For example, "I can't look at you/stand near you!"
"I feel like a house near you.."
Any comments??

I am not an "easily and naturally slim" person; however, I appear so now that I am on maintenance, and most of the time I am able to eat like a "Natural Thin" in public.
To dieting friends I've said, "It takes lots of hard work and neurotic behavior for me to stay at a healthy (possibly attractive....) weight.

It's like I am apologizing for my success........

I'm not qualified to answer from the "skinny" viewpoint yet... However you did make me think. Let me shoot the question back to you - how does it feel?

Good shot!
I don't want this to come across as a complaint, especially in this area, where I know I should be extremely thankful...
But, (you knew a But was coming) I do wonder how they expect me to react- should I "apologize??

I think what irks "us" (forgive me fellow dieters for representing your opinions) is when the skinny guys (or gals) complain about their weight. We get nervous when all you reach for is the salad and complain how tight your skirts are. Even worse is when you join weight control groups..

Boy -can I relate!! Those natural thins that are always "complaining"about how "fat" they are remind me of the class genius who always claimed she failed each exam after she took it. Everyone has their own agenda - some say it to call attention to their thin-ness. Some, because they are looking fora compliment. Some will say it when heavier people are around because they need something to feel superior about, and can only do that if they put someone else down. What I know is that if I focus on "them" I will always compare myself (compare and despair). I also know that I will probably not know the reason for what they say and it doesn't matter. What matters is how I feel about myself and what I am doing. Calling attention and talking about weight and food to people who dont understand doesnt do me any good...

That is the gist of this whole thread. If someone is lucky enough to be born with a great metabolism and doesn't have to worry about what they eat; we, "the other metabolisms" cannot worry about justifying our struggle to you.

I'm a little sorry that my question evokes sensitive spots. The topic spiraled onto a different tangent, I'm afraid. Also, yes, I agree with you that Skinny Complainers are annoying. I didn't imply that they should walk around showing off. I simply (maybe not so simply!) asked for comments.
Lots of luck!!!!!!!

I generally don't even think about talking to naturally skinnies about my weight or my diet....

Right on,Sweet - I also make it a practice not to talk to people about things that they dont understand - it doesnt make for good conversation. The problem is that everyone thinks they are and "expert" about diet and weight control. I think it's important to know what MY OWN VALUES and what I have to do...once I let people influence me, I'm a goner....
