Reply with quote | #1 | Hi sweet and sportsmom - I've missed you ! I don't relate to PMS sugar cravings in particular, however in general it's a huge problem in my life. I'm so bad at keeping away from the first bite and I'm even worse with stopping.
Although Yom Tov is my favorite time of the year with the lack of routine and schedule I've been worse than ever!

Reply with quote | #2 | lovetoeat - I've missed everyone so much, and I hope that this forum can be continued in as supportive a way as it used to be. I also have sweet cravings all the time, and it's so hard for me to resist temptations. All I can say (and I try to remember this myself) is that when I do in fact succeed to resist, I am very proud of myself and I feel so good. It's really worth it!

Reply with quote | #3 | Oy! I wrote a whole "story" last night and....... where is it???
Hi Lovetoeat and Sweet. It's great to have you both back.
Lovetoeat, it is very good/important that you've identified the problem you are having with food. Even on days without PMS, I have the same exact problems: taking the 1st bite of a "forbidden" food that sends me into a "tailspin," and not being able to stop eating. The main thing that happened for me was that, in my 30's (Oy! it's a long time ago...........) I noticed that a lot of our older (they were in their late 40's and early 50's then..... around my age now....     ) family friends were heavy and getting sick with diseases that were caused by "bad" eating. It took me some time, but I began changing what I ate. Instead of all the kugels, I started to eat roasted veggies. When I make chicken soup, I take off all the skin and fat before I add the chicken. I still have to force myself to stop eating, but I load up on veggies, salads and fruit so that I get to eat a lot, and I don't do any "damage." Little changes in what you choose to eat, and food that you bring into the house can make the transition painless. Also, a little exercise can't hurt.......... Yomtovim and Shabbos are difficult because there is so much food around. We can only do our best to try to be healthy, and forgive ourselves when we slip..........
Sweet, you always have great words of wisdom. I also hope that this forum can be brought back to life.
